This Week In Mentalists – The Us Against the World Edition

HEALTH WARNING
Sorry Jo [Ed - and me, Phil. Coldplay suck!]: this edition of TWIM contains explicit references to Coldplay: proceed entirely at your own risk.

HELLO, LOVELY PEOPLE. Phil Groom here, as in Phil’s Boring Blog and 5 Quid for Life, though you’ll find me blogging mostly on my Christian Bookshops Blog, since that’s the project that pays my way online. You’ll find some of my thoughts on mental health issues on my boring blog under the mental health tag — and looking back, I’m obviously well overdue for an update there, so watch this space.

This Week in Mentalists – Mad Up Edition

Greetings – one day late but better late than never I guess – fresh from the Southern Mad Up (because I am sure there will be a Northern Mad Up very soon), it’s Boudicca from Confessions of a Serial Titflasher.

What can be said about the Mad Up? I could write pages and pages about how it feels to be in the midst of a group of the bravest people, venturing out across the country, across town, out of their doors to meet people they had only met online and in some cases, not met at all. It is, in a word, awesome. As in, inspiring awe. And that is how I felt, sitting with people chatting, laughing, sharing, just being. In awe of the courage it took for many of us to take part in this, in awe of the friendships being forged, the strength displayed. I could go on.

Tomorrow’s Mad Up TWIM…

…will be on Sunday instead. This is because there is a Mad Up tomorrow! A Mad Up – a term coined by my partner A and myself, that seems to have ‘caught on’ (my only claim to relative fame, surely) – is a gathering of mental of mental health bloggers (and others involved in mental health). Also known as a Mental Meet Up, tomorrow’s occasion will be in London, as the first (and biggest) such occasion – in August 2010 – was also. The meeting will be after the AGM of 5 Quid for Life (an important charity that, if you have not proffered it already, would benefit greatly from your support). Read the rest of this entry

Ed’s note: To celebrate Super Bowl XLVI, TWIM is bringing you an extra edition for this weekend! I hope all the Americans (0r, obviously, non-Americans that follow this type of football) that read this site enjoy the year’s biggest sporting event! Thanks to Holly and Susan for the idea of a Super Sunday Super Bowl post, and (obviously) for writing it too :) ~Pan.

Hi, it’s Holly the cat again – back by popular demand – along with my typist and human, Susan. (I’ve trained her very well).

This Week In Mentalists – The Colder Than A Witches…

Welcome to this rather chilly edition of This Week In Mentalists. I am Paul from It’s Just A Ride. I am holed up in not so Snowy Kent just waiting for the inevitable to happen.

Whilst we wait for the snow here are my selection for this past week.

**Please be aware that there are some very strong issues dealt with in this weeks entries. They could be triggering, so please take care when reading.** Read the rest of this entry

This News in Mentalists – The Alliterative Triggers Edition

Hello all. It’s Pandora. Yes. Again. Sorry about that. I had someone else lined up to write today’s news, but that person has been taken into hospital. I’m sure you’ll all joining me in wishing them well. On a much brighter note, I promise you won’t have to put up with any more of my crap next week ;)

Since I can think of nothing interesting to utilise in a continuance of this introductory blurb, let’s just get on with the matter in hand.

Please beware of triggers for suicide, spending cuts and self-harm. (I do love a bit of alliteration. This case is especially nice because I’ve just realised I’ve written the three alliterative words in reverse alphabetical order. Truly, readers, my life is complete).

This News in Mentalists – The Pandora is a Crap Editor Edition

Good evening TWIMmers! Pandora here.

First up, an apology for the dearth of TWIM at the weekend. This is my fault entirely; I had got a fellow mentalist lined up to write it, but I’m presently in a Twitter hiatus (apologies if anyone has tried to contact me there – I go through phases where I may still tweet, usually via text message or bit.ly links, but never check @s or DMs, and this is one of them), and as such I completely forgot to remind her. Sorry. Normal service will be resumed this weekend.

So, before I fail even more as this site’s co-Editor, let me bring you the news. Please be aware of possible triggers relating to suicide, NHS “reform” and The Daily Mail.
